The Book of Mormon

In the 5th hour today, our Bishop talked about the importance of the Book of Mormon in our life. He reiterated what our Stake President has been saying all year about the Book of Mormon.

We need to
READ IT
KNOW IT
SHARE IT

The Bishop then reminded us that Mormon did not edit the Book of Mormon he did what the Lord commanded him to do 3 Nephi 26:12

We need to liken the scriptures to ourselves. He also talked about how Nephi went through the same struggles as Laman and Lemuel and he CHOSE to not complain about it. He went to the Lord and the Lord SOFTENED his heart. I never thought of Nephi that way before. It was very enlightening.

If we make the Book of Mormon a daily part of our lives and live its teachings, we will learn and be guided how to solve our own problems.

House washed and clean

So our HOA has been on us for a few "stains". We finally bit the bullet and had the house washed on Friday after Thanksgiving. It is beautiful. They cleaned the windows inside and out and even the runners. They even cleaned the fence and our patio and the patio furniture. We feel very blessed. The company is two brothers and they did a marvelous job! The funny thing is that it rained hard the very next day. We have gone 100 or 200 days without rain and it absolutely poured. I thought it was funny. My sweetheart, not so much!

Date Night

Friday night was date night with my sweetheart. We actually had a two for one coupon and so we were able to go to a restaurant that we like. I was like a teenager all week waiting in anticipation for our night out. I thoroughly enjoyed it! I love him so much and I love the time we spend together talking and laughing and just being with each other. Thank you my sweetheart for always making me feel like the most beautiful woman in the world. I know I am the most blessed!!!

The Christmas Sweater Book Club

Thursday evening was our monthly book club. Our book for discussion was "The Christmas Sweater" by Glenn Beck. What a marvelous book about forgiveness, atonement, and gratitude. One of the sisters read to us quite beautifully the children's version. To begin the evening, we had our wonderful potluck and conversation then on to discuss the book. It was a delightful evening and we enjoy and love the host of our monthly event so very much!! We had a few sisters that talked about themselves and opened up so that we got to learn a few wonderfully interesting things as well.

RS girls night out

On Wednesday last week, our RS had our monthly girls night out. It was a lot of fun with good food and good catching up with each other. We had a craft night earlier in the month and so we set up a table for the sisters to finish that up. We had a swap table and I ended up with a cute little resting "mat" for Mini Moo. She loves it. It was a lot of fun! I just love the sisters in my ward.

Physical Inventory

Last weekend was the physical inventory at work. Saturday began bright and early at 5:30 a.m. and I finally got home around 3:30 p.m. I took 1/2 hour to just unwind and relax with a book. Then at 4:00 p.m. my sweetheart and I took the opportunity to spend some time in the yarden. We watered everything and raked the leaves front and back. By then daylight was waning. I said hello to all of my wonderful plants and we headed in for a relaxing evening. He takes such good care of me and won't let me overdo on those evenings. He had the laundry already done which is my weekend chore. Sunday, my sweetheart made me a delicious burrito breakfast. YUMMMO!! Then it was eat and run as I made it to the office at 9:00 a.m. We were done by 12:15 which is actually a record time for us. I was home and resting by 12:30. I just idled the rest of the day due to total mental and physically tiredness overtaking me. It is now done for another 6 months. I really missed going to church and seeing all of the beautiful sisters in the ward.

New Calling

So today was full of tears joy and Forever Eternal Friends. Our Relief Society presidency was dissolved. We love Loini and she is a Forever Eternal Friend. I am now a 1st counselor in the Relief Society and I get the grand opportunity to learn and grow as I am now the Education Counselor. I look forward to learning these new things and having great experiences and memories with the sisters of the Vista 5th ward.

I am going to leave it at that this evening.

Women's Leadership Meeting

Last week I attended a Stake Women's Leadership Training Meeting. We were spiritually fed to overflowing. I would like to make note of a few key points I would like to remember.

Sister Olsen - San Diego Temple Matron

The sisters are ministering angels. Ministering angels are women who urge the priesthood to do thier duties.

True joy is found in interactions with other people. If we want joy in our hearts we must forget ourselves and reach out to others. Don't wait for someone to call. If the spirit prompts, go to them and serve them.

3 Nephi 17: Ministry needs to be one on one to meet the needs of the individual.

Obedience to the gospel plan is the only way to have a Christlike life. If our hearts are prepared, the Holy Ghost will infuse blessings into our lives.

Sometimes the Spirit sends us somewhere without directions. We don't know what we are to do until we follow the prompting to go.

Sister from the LDS social services

2 Nephi 25:23 "Men are that they might have joy"

I am a Daughter of Heavenly Father who LOVES Me and I LOVE Him

We need faith to rule out fear. Moses saw Hell when he felt fear and lacked in faith.

Perfect means to make whole or complete. I can only do the best that I can do and then the grace of Christ makes up the difference. At the judgement, the Lord will ask for our heart.

Happiness is a choice. We get to choose how we feel about situations. We fill our lives with so many "good" things that we lose sight of the essential things.

She talked about the story in Ether about the vessels and how tight they were. Then she talked about how the Brother of Jared received direction from the Lord on how to get air in the vessels and how the Brother of Jared had to think about how to get the light in the vessels and this was how he saw the finger of the Lord. Then she went on to talk about how this is not the end of the story. The journey is very important. They got into the vessels and then the Lord "CAUSED" a ferocious wind. Without the ferocious wind they would not have been able to get to the promised land, their destination. The ferocious winds made the journey difficult but without them they would not have gotten where they needed to go. She likened this to how we all have adversity to help us learn and grow. It is difficult and painful at times, but without it, we cannot make it to our ultimate destination. To live with our Heavenly Father.

I am glad I went to the meeting and that the Lord provided these wonderful women to deliver such a spiritual feast. It truly was magnificent.

Be where you are supposed to be when you are supposed to be there

I had a bishop who is now in our Stake presidency. He has a saying "Be where you are supposed to be, when you are supposed to be there." I am so grateful for this message. I use it on nights like Thursday when I really did not feel like going to a Women's leadership Training meeting at the stake center. I have to admit, I was tired. Bone-tired. You know the tired I mean where your body aches and the last thing you want to do is ANYTHING at all.

Well I went to the meeting, I was filled inside to overflowing with coucil and advice that touched me deep to the very center of my soul.

Be Where You Are Supposed To Be, When You Are Supposed To Be There. I am thankful for the tender mercies and blessings of the Lord in my life.

Temple Blessings

On Wednesday, I was so tired and had a migraine developing. I called the sister I always take to the temple and told her I would try to find her another ride because I was not feeling well. I called the RS president, her carpool was already full. I left several messages with others in the ward to no avail. I finally just took some Aleve, said a prayer and picked up the sister for the temple. What a blessing in my life!!!!! I felt so much peace at the temple. We enjoyed each other's company to and fro. At the temple the RS Pres came up to me and told me they had a last minute cancellation in the carpool but too late to notify me. The other people from the ward said they received my message but too late to notify me. I know that it was Heavenly Father's hand in my life. Just a reminder that sometimes, it is not about what we want or think we need but what Heavenly Father KNOWS that we need.

Just say no....and it is okay

I heard this on Dr Laura: (written by Barbara Basser)...When Angela was very young,Age two to three or so,Her mother and her father Taught her never to say NO.They taught her that she must agreeWith everything they said,And if she didn't, she was spanked And sent upstairs to bed.So Angela grew up to beA most agreeable childShe was never angryAnd she was never wildShe always shared, she always cared,She never picked a fight,And no matter what her parents said,She thought that they were right.Angela the Angel did very well in schoolAnd, as you might imagine, she followed every ruleHer teachers said she was so well-bred,So quiet and so good,But how Angela felt insideThey never understood.Angela had lots of friendsWho liked her for her smileThey knew she was the kind of galWho'd go the extra mileAnd even when she had a cold,And really needed rest,When someone asked her if she'd helpShe always answered Yes.When Angela was thirty-three, she was a lawyer's wife. She had a home and family, and a nice suburban life. She had a little girl of fourAnd a little boy of nine,And if someone asked her how she feltShe always answered "Fine"But one cold night near ChristmastimeWhen her family was in bedShe lay awake as awful thoughts went spinning through her headShe didn't know why, and she didn't know how, But she wanted her life to endSo she begged Whoever put her here To take her back again. And then she heard, from deep inside, A voice that was soft and low It only said a single word, And the word it said was NOFrom that moment on, Angela knew Exactly what she had to do. Her life depended on that word, so this is what her loved ones heard:NO, I just don't want to NO, I don't agreeNO, that's yours to handleNO, that's wrong for meNO, I wanted something elseNO, that hurt a lot!NO, I'm tired, and NO, I'm busy, and NO, I'd rather not!Well, her family found it shocking, Her friends reacted with surprise But Angela was different, you could see it in her eyes For they've held no meek submission Since that night three years ago When Angela the Angel got permission to say NO.Today Angela's a person first, then a mother and a wife. She knows where she begins and ends, She has a separate life. She has talents and ambitions, She has feelings, needs and goals. She has money in the bank and an opinion at the polls. And to her boy and girl she says, "It's nice when we agree But if you can't say NO, you'll never grow To be all you're meant to be. Because I know I'm sometimes wrong, And because I love you so, You'll always be my Angels Even when you tell me NO"

I am thankful for..........

I am thankful for chocolate that melts in my mouth.

Visit from Sis and family

I was very blessed to have my skinny sis visit with her family. We got to spend a whole day together and it filled my heart and soul with joy! In Sacrament meeting we sang "Families can be together forever" and it had special meaning being able to look out at the congregation and see my beautiful sister and her wonderful family. To know that I can be with them too was a joy beyond words.

To my beautiful sister: Thank you for your unconditional love and sweet spirit. You inspire me to be a better person.

To my wonderful brother (in-law): Thank you for taking such wonderful care of my sister and loving her and making her feel like a princess. You are a blessing.

To my Nieces and Nephews:

#1: You are such a beautiful daughter of a Heavenly Father that loves you so much. Thank you for talking to your uncle and filling us in on the things going on in your life.
#2: You have gotten so tall. Thank you for helping your family so wonderfully and being such a fine young man.
#3: The cat made from pipe cleaners was truly an art piece. It now has a magnet and is on our fridge. You have a true talent young man.

#6: I am so glad you got to see Little Joe and that you were able to find so many treasures to take back with you. I found an aligator lizard in my yard this week and thought of you.
#7: My little monkey. You are a light in my life. Thank you for being so special and wonderful. I wish I knew how many cookies you were able to put into that small belly of yours.
#8: The little one. The next time I see you, you will be out of diapers. WOW! You are getting so big. It was great to hear all of the words and see you doing so well. I loved the "pizza pizza pizza" as you were coming down the stairs for dinner.

You are all too sweet. I hope you had fun and please know that your uncle and I enjoyed you so very much! Til next we meet, I love you :-)
