Laughlin Zoo

Did you know that Laughlin has a zoo? Well they don't technically have a zoo but here is what we saw in one evening on our river walk. We were on the river "boardwalk" if you will. Looking down to the river we usually just see the beautiful ducks and sucker fish. Huge fish. Looks like they are 2 to 3 feet in length. Anyway we look and there are all these people gathered around. There was a family of raccoons. Mommy had two babies and then there were two males one smaller than the other. The smaller one kept growling at the bigger one. The bigger one was too busy standing on his back feet and begging for food. Actually came all the way up to the railing. He looked at us and then turned around and walked down the rocks back to the river. He actually swam to where the ducks were when he thought they were getting more bread than he was. Then he came on shore and left little raccoon foot and hand prints. It was adorable. We walked with the mommy for a while after she left. There was also a skunk family at the river. The raccoons and skunks just live and let live and don't bother each other. There was a cat under the bridge and he was so cute. Black with little white paws. Then there was an otter. He swam to shore came on shore and then turned around and swam away. Guess he was doing his excercise laps. Then what with people watching and we had a grand time at the Laughlin zoo!!!

  1. Sounds like fun. I loved the way you told that story in person. Thanks for the phone call! I love all little babies. I guess that is why we now have a rat.

  2. I love those kinds of zoo's, free and relaxed! Do you think one of those raccoons would come and take care of the mouse in my house??!! Liz has a pet rat, on purpose!! I know! But I have an unwelcome mouse!! And worse of all it is in my BEDROOM!
